Local student named Miss Congeniality
Jenni Smoller of Lilburn, a senior majoring in business marketing, competed in the Miss Reinhardt College 2009 Competition and was named Miss Congeniality. Contestants were judged on academic excellence, community commitment, talent, interview and evening gown categories. For her talent, Smoller performed a monologue from the movie "Love Actually." At Reinhardt College, she is involved in Circle K and is on the Student Government Executive Board. Senior poet wins Laureate award Emery L. Campbell, 82, of Lawrenceville has won the 2009 Georgia Senior Poet Laureate Award with his sonnet "Frogs in Earnest." He was National Senior Poet Laureate in 1999 also. His poetry book "The Gardener's Impossible Dream" was published in 2005. Sylvia Sampson-Haney, 55, of Stockbridge received an Honor Scroll Award for "Legacy," which won in the first round. She is the daughter of the late Barbara Ruth Sampson, 2004 National Senior Poet Laureate.More like this story
