ATLANTA - The Georgia State Ethics Commission agreed to a consent order Thursday, fining Gwinnett Commission Chairman Charles Bannister $500 for failing to disclose two campaign contributions.
The move was one of the lightest fines imposed by the group that day. Bannister, who did not attend the commission's hearing Thursday, said he agreed to the order. "If this is the decision, this is OK with me," he said in an e-mail. The infractions were from Bannister's 2008 re-election campaign. According to the consent order, Bannister left two contributions off his Dec. 31, 2006, campaign contribution disclosure report. The two were a $1,000 contribution from Primerica Financial Services, dated Sept. 13, 2006, and a $2,000 contribution from Brand Banking Company on July 27, 2006. Bannister later amended the report to include the information, the order said.More like this story
