Ride for Rally scheduled for Saturday

BUFORD - The second annual Ride for Rally benefiting the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Addictive Cycling/Caffeine Café.

The 50-mile ride was started last year by the Frazier Cycling members to show their support of cycling teammate and childhood cancer survivor Russell Tindol and help raise awareness for childhood cancer. Tindol has been in remission for a year.

This year's ride will offer a 10-, 30- or 50-mile option and will be a social ride for all ages and levels. Those interested can register today or Friday online at www.active.com/donate/rideforrally or Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. at Addictive Cycling, 4050 Buford Drive, Buford. Entry fees are $30 for those who register online or $35 the day of the ride. The event is sponsored by Frazier Cycling, Addictive Cycling and Allgood Pest Solutions.

Special Needs School raises funds for school

LAWRENCEVILLE - Special Needs School of Gwinnett is collecting supplies for a Lilburn Catholic school that sustained damage in last month's flood.

St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School sustained significant damage in the Sept. 21 flood. After missing school for two weeks, the school's students returned to classrooms where teachers' supplies were destroyed by floodwater.

"As a community, we must all pull together to help those in need, and right now St. John Neumann needs us," said Elinore Trotter, director and principal of Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett.

Supplies and donations for St. John Neumann Regional Catholic School will be collected at Special Needs Schools of Gwinnett until Monday. Those interested in donating can call the Special Needs School at 678-442-6262 or e-mail dywall@bellsouth.net.

South Gwinnett plans Pink Out for homecoming

SNELLVILLE - South Gwinnett High School is planning a Pink Out for its homecoming game Friday against Parkview.

In support of breast cancer awareness, the school will have a pink ribbon painted on the field for the game. The football players will be wearing pink arm bands, and the cheerleaders will don pink bows.

Attendees are asked to wear pink to support the cause. Pink buckets will be circulated to receive donations for breast cancer awareness, and the school will also be selling many items to raise money.
