BUFORD - Buford shut out Sonoraville 5-0 and then 9-0 in five innings on Tuesday night in the Class AA softball first round.
Karly Fullem threw a no-hitter, gave up a walk and struck out 18 batters to pick up the win in the first game. Whitney Wolfe went 2-for-3 with a double an RBI and two runs, Melissa Dickie was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run and Ansley Jozloski went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run for the Wolves.
In the second game, Melissa Dickie pitched a one-hitter, gave up two walks and struck out seven.
At the plate Dickie went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, two RBIs and a run, and Alysha Rudnik went 2-for-3 with a triple, double, two RBIs and two runs. Lexi Overstreet finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs and Karly Fullem was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run for the Wolves (19-4).
GAC defeats Armuchee
NORCROSS - Greater Atlanta Christian shut out Armuchee 1-0 in the first game, and took a 5-2 win in the second game on Tuesday in the Class AAA first round.
Sarah Armstrong threw a complete game shutout, allowed three hits and struck out four batters.
Sierra Lawrence drove in Courtney Czentnar to score the Spartans' only run. Chaney Means was 1-for-3, while Morgan Sitzes and Taylor Endres each went 1-for-2.
During the second game, Means went 2-for-4 and Sitzes was 2-for-4 with a run. Lawrence had a double and scored a run, while Endres had a double, RBI and a run and Christine Young had a double for the Spartans.
Grayson splits with Harrison
KENNESAW - Grayson lost to Harrison 1-0 but beat the Hoyas 3-2 in the second game on Tuesday night to force a deciding Game 3 today in the Class AAAAA first round.
Kanani Cabrales (13-7) took the loss in the first game, giving up a run off of two hits and striking out 10. During the second game, Cabrales picked up the win after striking out 12 batters, giving up seven hits, and two runs.
At the plate Cabrales was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Hayley Downs went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs and a stolen base. Taylor Benton was 2-for-4 and Shelby Smith went 2-for-3 for the Rams (18-11). Grayson plays the third game against Harrison today at 6 p.m.
WOODSTOCK - Parkview beat Etowah 7-1 but fell 1-0 in the second game on Tuesday, and will play the third game at 5:30 p.m. today in the Class AAAAA first round.
Summer Rose took up the win in the first game. Carrie Ann Bullard was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Krista Gustafson went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Sarah McFall went 3-for-4 for the Panthers.
Duluth splits with Lassiter
MARIETTA - Duluth shut out Lassiter 1-0 in nine innings, but lost 5-1 in the second game on Tuesday in the Class AAAAA first round.
Duluth's Sam Martin's bunt scored Chantelle Curinton for the win in the first game. Jeanie Perrucci also had a sac bunt for Duluth, and Sam Metzler was 2-for-4. Perrucci pitched a no-hitter and struck out 10 batters for the Wildcats.
Lassiter beat Duluth in the second game, but relief pitcher Ivy Knox struck out five batters for the Wildcats. Reina Sycamore went 1-for-1 and Gracey Delorenzo was 1-for-2 for the Wildcats.
Providence beats Trion twice
TRION - Providence played Trion twice on Tuesday, and took a 2-1 win in the first game and 6-0 in the second game of the Class A first round.
In the first game, Kylie Kleinschmidt gave up an earned run, and struck out 16 batters. Cory Rodgers had a hit and a run and Lindsay Emerich had a hit and the game-winning RBI for Providence.
Kleinschmidt (19-8) picked up another win in the second game, after giving up a hit and striking out 10 batters in six innings.
At the plate, Kleinschmidt had a two-run home run and three RBIs and Alexis Baldy went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a double. Bri Canady added a hit, a run and an RBI and Katie Beals had a double and a run for Providence.
Killian Hill beats Byne in three
LILBURN - Nicole Bullard led Killian Hill with 16 serves and 24 assists as the Cougars topped Byne Christian 25-16, 25-9, 25-7 on Tuesday night.
Kaitlyn Rygh had 11 aces, Jennifer Burrow contributed five kills and Courtney Bullard added two kills for Killian Hill (12-2).
