On Saturday, Kaiser Permanente of Georgia will kick off its annual fall influenza campaign by giving free flu shots to Kaiser Permanente members in metro Atlanta during Flu Shot Saturday.
Flu shots will be given on a first-come, first-served basis at all Kaiser Permanente facilities from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Non-members who are caregivers to Kaiser Permanente members can get a flu shot for $20. Pneumococcal vaccines are also available.
"Influenza is a viral infection that makes people prone to pneumonia. The Centers for Disease Control recommends a flu shot for anyone who wishes to decrease their chance of getting influenza this year, not just those with an underlying medical condition," said Juanita Cone, MD, chief of Population Based Care, Prevention and Health Promotion for Kaiser Permanente.
Local Kaiser Permanente locations in Gwinnett are in Duluth at 3650 Steve Reynolds Blvd. and in Sugar Hill at 1435 Broadmoor Blvd.
