NORCROSS - Kylie Kleinschmidt scattered five hits and struck out 11 on Tuesday in a complete-game effort to lead Providence to a 2-0 win over Wesleyan in the Region 7-A tournament.
Kleinschmidt (17-6) also helped on offense with a hit, stolen base and a run while Lauren Eggert went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jessie Kowalewicz added a double and a run.
The Stars (20-6) advance to play Eagle's Landing Christian Academy in the winner's bracket at 5 p.m. today at Wesleyan.
Mountain View splits in Region 8-AAA tourney
ELBERTON - Mountain View opened its Region 8-AAA tournament on Tuesday at Elbert County with a 4-0 shutout of Hart County before falling to Elbert County 3-0 in the night cap.
Brooke Stanford pitched a complete game shutout in the win against Hart County, striking out seven with three hits and a walk. Taylor Miller and Kayley Hennelly each went 1-for-2 with a run while Lindsey Baxter added a hit.
Danielle Davis pitched six solid innings in the loss against Elbert County, lasting six innings with three hits, one earned run and nine strikeouts. Baxter, Breannah McCrary and Nikki Robinson each had a hit for Mountain View.
Mountain View will play in the next round at 5 p.m. Thursday at Elbert County.
Buford 11, Blessed Trinity 3
ROSWELL - Karly Fullem went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs on Tuesday night in leading Buford to an 11-3 win in six innings over Blessed Trinity in the Region 6-AA tournament. The win sends the Wolves (17-4) to the region finals on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Lexi Overstreet added two hits with a double and three RBIs while Kallie Case went 3-for-4 with three runs. Alysha Rudnik, who was intentionally walked three times, also had a two-run home run while scoring three times as the Buford offense pounded out 15 hits.
Melissa Dickie pitched all six innings for the win, striking out 10 with five hits and three walks in improving her record to 6-1.
Wesleyan 12, Mount Pisgah 2
NORCROSS - After falling to Providence in its Region 7-A tournament opener on Tuesday, Wesleyan bounced back to top Mount Pisgah 12-2 in five innings, qualifying for the Class A state tournament.
Logan Morris led the offense for Wesleyan, going 3-for-4 with a run while India Welton allowed two runs and struck out four in recording the win. The Wolves will play Fellowship Christian on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the next round.
Grayson sweeps Dacula and Brookwood
LOGANVILLE - Grayson picked up some momentum for the upcoming Area 8-AAAAA tournament with two sweeps of Dacula and Brookwood on Tuesday night.
Kelly Mohr and Ansley Cash each had 11 digs for Grayson (22-14, 6-1) while Kara Seabrook added five aces and a block. Shenice Howard finished with 15 assists while Grace Basile had 10 kills.
Brookwood (17-25, 6-1) salvaged a split on the night with a 25-16, 25-14 sweep of Dacula. Paige Brown finished with 18 digs for the Broncos while Kaitlin Grunder had 13 kills. Bethany Easom added 20 assists and seven aces.
Providence and GAC advance in Area 4-AA/A tournament
DACULA - Providence opened its Area 4-AA/A tournament with a split on Tuesday at Hebron, sweeping Buford 25-16, 25-16 but falling to Greater Atlanta Christian in three games 12-25, 25-17, 12-25.
Amanda Komisarow led GAC (26-6) in kills with 16 while Morgan McKnight fnished with six and Rachel Waldrop added five. Emily Parker also had eight digs while Catherine Chason had 29 assists.
Providence (27-12) will continue its tournament play on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Hebron against Paideia while GAC plays Hebron at 6 p.m in the winners bracket.
Wesleyan advances to Area 7-AA/A finals
NORCROSS - Wesleyan swept both Fellowship Christian (25-5, 25-10) and Holy Innocents' (25-16, 25-14) on Tuesday night to advance to the finals of the Area 7-AA/A tournament on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. at Holy Innocents'.
Grace Leah Baughn finished with 26 digs, 10 kills and nine aces to lead Wesleyan (28-17) while Alex Middleton added eight kills and four aces. Alana Broe added seven kills while Wilson Sprinkle finished with 16 digs.
Killian Hill wins two over Faith
LILBURN - Killian Hill played two matches against Faith on Tuesday and won twice, winning the first match two games to one while sweeping the second match. Standouts for Killian Hill (11-2, 10-2) were Nicole Bullard (78 assists, 28 serves), Emily McMahan (11 kills, five digs), Olivia Peralta (59 passes, six kills), Ashley Petersen (10 blocks), Jeannia Crane (16 blocks), Kaitlyn Rygh (59 assists, 20 serves), Chelsea Krantz (49 assists, 14 serves) and Madeline Tewes (58 passes, 17 serves).
