LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett Medical Center, partnering with a local news station, will provide low-cost screening mammograms to help in the fight against breast cancer.
On Tuesday and Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., the Care-A-Van, GMC's digital mammography unit, will be in the parking lot of The Arena at Gwinnett Center.
Appointments are required for the screenings, which cost $150 (payable by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard). Some insurance plans are accepted.
Hospital spokeswoman Andrea Wehrmann said breast educators will also be in attendance to talk about cancer awareness, breast self exams and other breast health information.
Women interested in being screened should be at least 35 years old, have no history of breast cancer and should not have had breast surgery in the past two years.
A physician's screening mammogram order is also required.
To make an appointment, call the Gwinnett Medical Center HealthLine at 678-442-5000.
