Men charged in copper thefts

LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County deputies have arrested four men they say are responsible for stealing nearly $68,000 worth of property from a single business over several weeks.

Eric Shannon Wahl, 39, of Social Circle and Henry Fletcher Stokes, 46, Robert Wayne Kirkpatrick, 55, and Darrell Ray Collett, 47, all of Doraville, are facing burglary charges in the incidents.

According to authorities, the men swiped a limousine, copper wiring, electrical and air conditioning units and copper plumbing from a warehouse at American National in Norcross.

A private investigator provided the information to Gwinnett police and deputies that helped lead to the arrests, said Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Stacey Bourbonnais.

Gwinnett police recovered the limousine near the Doraville home of one of the suspects, who was already in custody on unrelated charges. Jail records show Kirkpatrick and Stokes have been in jail since Sept. 4. Collett was arrested Monday while Wahl was apprehended Thursday.

In all, $67,500 in property was recovered, officials said.

All four men, none of whom are strangers to law enforcement, are being held without bond.

Bourbonnais said information related to this case was shared with other metro Atlanta agencies that might be working on burglary cases.
