Mr. Hubert C. “Pete” Whidby, age 79, of Washington, GA and formerly of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009. He was preceded in death by: wife, Rachel Satterfield Whidby; parents, Hubert and Kate Martin Whidby; brothers, Clinton Whidby and Willard Whidby; and sister, Wynell Swansey. He is survived by: sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Lew Powers, Washington, GA; niece, Mary Lou Whidby; nephews, David Swansey, Clell Whidby, and Michael Whidby; two great nieces; and several cousins. Mr. Whidby was born January 28, 1930 in Georgia. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a retired manager of a convenience store. Graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA with Rev. Joel Shadburn officiating and with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Michael J.
