Belva Baker Jenkins, age 78, of Lawrenceville, GA died peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 after a gallant battle with cancer. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Cheryl Jenkins, daughter & son-in-law, Jennifer & Phil Ash, 2 grandchildren, James and Ashley Jenkins all of Dacula, GA; step-granddaughter & husband, Heather & Mahesh Candler and their daughter, Lana all of Bethlehem, GA; devoted canine companion, Buddy, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Grady Baker (August 13, 2009). Belva was born on July 13, 1931 in Carroll County, GA to Gladys Pike Baker and Henry Grady Baker, Sr. and graduated from Carrollton High School. Belva opened one of the first real estate offices in Lawrenceville, GA in 1965 known as Bee Jay Realty. She continued her real estate and land development career during the 1970's. In 1980 Belva affiliated with RE/MAX Gwinnett, Inc., that later became RE/MAX Greater Atlanta, where she had an award filled career serving as an Associate Broker and Sales Manager of the Lawrenceville office until her retirement in 2006. Belva had a helping personality, enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. She couldn't begin her day without the challenge of tackling the crossword puzzle in the NY Times with a good cup of coffee. A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of Belva Jenkins will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Minister Harold Savage officiating.
