Wesleyan's Morris commits to Wofford basketball

Wesleyan senior Logan Morris has accepted a basketball scholarship offer from Wofford College (S.C.). She is the daughter of Jeff and Kelly Morris.

A four-year varsity basketball player, Morris is entering her third season as a starter. She has helped lead the Wolves to two state basketball championships, earning All-Region 6-AA honors last season, when she averaged 7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals.

Morris, who maintains a 3.2 GPA, also was recruited by the Georgia fastpitch softball program as an invited walk-on. She joins teammate Erin Hall (Wake Forest) in committing early to a Division I basketball program.

Mill Creek working on Pink Out for football game

Mill Creek High School is holding its first Pink Week for breast cancer awareness from Monday through Oct. 9, culminating in a Pink Out at the

Oct. 9 home football game vs. Peachtree Ridge. Hawk fans are encouraged to wear pink to that game.

Mill Creek will be selling Pink Week T-shirts prior to the game at the school. Order forms are available at www.millcreekhighschool.org.

Duluth Youth Wrestling

The Duluth Youth Wrestling program will be holding registration at Shorty Howell Community Center from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 15. The Wildcats, which have renewned their charter with USA Wrestling, are looking to add two more coaches as well.

Brookwood to hold youth wrestling registration

The Brookwood wrestling program will be holding youth registration at Bethesda Park from

9 a.m. to noon Oct. 17. You can also register through the community school by calling 770-978-5064. The first 50 registrants will get a free Brookwood wrestling T-shirt.

SEC hoops tickets for 2010

Tickets for the 2010 SEC Women's Basketball Tournament, scheduled for March 4-7 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center, are on sale beginning today at 9 a.m.

Reserved ticket books are $90 for the tourney's six sessions or general admission books are available for $60. Single-session tickets go on sale March 1.

Weinhart wins Georgia PGA Section title

Tim Weinhart, a teaching pro at St. Marlo Golf Club in Duluth, birdied three of his last five holes for a one-shot victory Tuesday in the Georgia PGA Section Professional Championship at Achasta Golf Club in Dahlonega.

Weinhart's final-round 69 put him at 8 under for the tournament, good for a one-shot victory over Clark Spratlin of Blue Ridge Golf and River Club.
