Police: Woman's shooter nabbed

NORCROSS -- A man suspected of firing a gunshot Friday that hit a pregnant woman is in police custody.

Raul Carrion-Jimenez, 35, was arrested Friday in the Lakeview Station Apartments on South Norcross Tucker Road in Norcross. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center, where he was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery following an incident that appeared to stem from a domestic dispute occurring at 1248 Santa Anna Drive in Norcross earlier that day.

Police said a couple had an argument at the residence, and as a result, the man left but later returned looking for his girlfriend. A resident at the location, a Hispanic woman who is about eight weeks pregnant, told the man his girlfriend was not there and locked the door when he attempted to gain entry. Police said, the man drew a pistol and fired five rounds through the door, one of which struck the pregnant victim.

The man fled the scene and police were notified. The victim was transported to a local hospital where her injuries were determined to be non-life threatening to either her or the baby.
