DULUTH -- Police had to sort through shoppers at Gwinnett Place Mall on Black Friday after two men were stabbed.
The Hispanic men were transported to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, Gwinnett Police spokesman Detective J. Smith said.
The scene unfolded about 11:13 a.m. in the food court area of the Duluth mall.
"Officers did not have trouble responding due to the crowds, but did respond in large numbers due to the large number of shoppers to sort through," Smith said of reacting to a crime at a mall on the biggest shopping day of the year. "A command post was set up, and a coordinated search of the mall took place. The search was called off when it was determined that the four suspects had fled the scene."
Smith said the incident appeared to be gang-related. No one was arrested by press time, and he said the investigation is ongoing.
