LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Loganville man was arrested after deputies serving an eviction notice at his Langley Creek Drive home discovered he was keeping three dogs in "deplorable" conditions.
Police have charged Derrick Eugene Wright, 39, with three counts of animal cruelty.
According to authorities, the dogs -- two pit bulls and a Rottweiler -- were living in muddy, feces-covered kennels outside. The Rottweiler and one of the pit bulls were reportedly so malnourished that "their skeletal systems could clearly be seen."
Deputies called animal control officers from the Gwinnett County Police Department, who responded to the scene and decided to cite Wright for the misdemeanor offenses.
Deputies took Wright to the Gwinnett County Jail, where he was booked and subsequently released on a $405 bond.
According to court records, the dogs were seized, though their fate remains unclear.
