“NANNY” Mrs. Justine “Nanny” Brown, age 93, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2009. She was preceded in death by: husband, Woodrow Brown; son, Ricky Brown; daughters, Linda Brown Johnson and Barbara Brown Goldberg; and son-in-law, Larry Samples. She is survived by: daughter, Patricia Brown Samples, Buford, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sheila Brown, Jefferson, GA and Mark and Beverly Brown, Buford, GA; daughter-in-law, Brenda Richey Brown, Buford, GA; ten grandchildren, Rodney Brown, Chris and Beth Knowles, Trina and Tony Worley, Patric and Rhonda Knowles, Becky Davis, Brian Hughes, Sherry Hughes, Tiffany and Marcus Sentelle, Courtney Brown and Zach Brown; eleven great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; aunt, Mrs. Edith Barnes Queen, Buford, GA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Justine was born on August 12, 1916 in Cumming, GA. She was raised on a farm where her family grew their own food, and picked their own cotton from the fields. She attended Haw Creek School until the 8th grade. Her first job was at Lockheed, where she worked on wings of fighter planes during World War II. She was married on March 30, 1932 to Woodrow Brown. They were happily married for 26 years, until Woodrow passed away, leaving her with five young children to raise. Though never getting behind the wheel of a car, Justine always provided for her children. She worked nights at the Chicopee Lumite plant in Buford, and retired after 25 years. Most of Buford will remember her as the best biscuit maker at Hardees's restaurant, where she was asked for by name by most of the customers. She was employed for 20 years and during that time she won first place in a biscuit–making competition. She was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist church, where you could find her every Sunday on the second pew, along with her dear friends. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She touched their lives with her sweet smile and kind words. Everyone knew her “Nanny or Ninnie” whatever the case; she treated everyone as though they were her family. She left behind a legacy for all to model, a strong godly woman who would overcome obstacles to provide for her family. She loved her family with a passion and held each dear to her heart. Although we have lost a precious treasure, heaven has gained an angel. She will be forever missed, but it is not good-bye for we will see her again. We love you Nanny. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Crocker and Rev. Arthur Southerland officiating.
