Mall worker charged with raping woman

BUFORD -- A Mall of Georgia kiosk worker is charged with raping a woman in a mall storage room Friday afternoon.

Police said Jarvis Wiley, 20, of Lawrenceville, lured the woman into the room by asking her for help about 1 p.m.

The 21-year-old Fayetteville woman is employed at a separate kiosk inside Georgia's largest mall. Wiley and her were acquainted, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter.

The victim immediately reported the sexual assault to Mall of Georgia Security personnel and Gwinnett police.

"The investigation provided sufficient probable cause to arrest (Wiley)," Ritter said.

Wiley is charged with one count of felony rape.

Jail records show Wiley works for Hickory Farms, a gift-food provider that sells direct at malls during the holiday season. He remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.

Investigators are interviewing additional witness to determine if further charges will be pressed, Ritter said.
