Exactly how the six remaining Gwinnett area teams in the state football playoffs will fare in their quarterfinal games next Friday remains to be seen.

But three of those teams got a victory of sorts on Saturday, thanks to a flip of the coin.

Grayson, North Gwinnett and Apalachee faced those coin flips to determine if they would be at home or on the road for the quarterfinal matchups, and all three came up on the winning end.

As a result, the top-ranked Rams (12-0) will play host to No. 4 Newnan (12-0) at Britt-Moody Field and the No. 2 Bulldogs (12-0) will welcome ninth-ranked Camden County (10-2) at Tom Robinson Memorial Stadium in the Class AAAAA quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, No. 6 Apalachee (12-0) will await No. 1 Griffin (12-0) for a Class AAAA quarterfinal, also on Friday.

The coin flips were made necessary by Georgia High School Association by-laws to determine the host team when like seeds meet in the postseason. All six teams involved in Saturday's coin flips were region champions.

The coin flip win was particularly important for North, which would've faced a five-hour drive to Kingsland had Camden County won the flip.

Two more Gwinnett teams will also host their quarterfinal games on Friday, with top-ranked Wesleyan (12-0) welcoming No. 9 Wilcox County (10-2) in Class A and No. 3 Buford (11-1) playing host to unranked Cook (7-5) in Class AA.

The only area team forced to hit the road is Peachtree Ridge (10-2), which will travel to central Georgia to take on seventh-ranked Northside-Warner Robins (11-1) in another Class AAAAA quarterfinal.
