Jireh Supplies hosts open house
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Jireh Supplies, a Lawrenceville-based professional audio, video and lighting dealer and installer, is having an open house this weekend to celebrate its new location.
The new retail showroom is located at 117 Buford Drive, and the open house will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday.
At the open house, representatives from Shure Microphones, Sennheiser Microphones, Mackie Speakers and Yamaha will demonstrate new equipment. The event will feature live music and drawings from prizes such as a free Yamaha Mixer.
Jireh Supplies has partnered with Nspire Outreach Center's Nspire Atlanta program, and a portion of the proceeds from sales on Friday and Saturday will benefit Nspire Outreach. The store will also be collecting donated clothing and nonperishable food for Nspire Outreach, which provides employment, education, housing, counseling and coaching to homeless men and women in the community.
Braselton to mark holidays with festival
BRASELTON -- The town of Braselton is having a holiday festival Saturday in Braselton Park.
More than 60 vendors will be present for the event, and booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
A 10 a.m. parade featuring 17 floats, a marching band and Santa Claus will proceed down Ga. Highway 53 and through the park.
Twenty children will be able to do crafts and enjoy cookies and milk with Santa from 1 to 2 p.m. Tickets cost $15 and will be available at the Braselton Town Hall until all 20 are sold.
From 2 to 5 p.m., children will be able to meet Santa. Parents can take photos or purchase a CD of photos done by the Never the Rock Photographers for $10. Also during this time, children can feed and pet animals including a camel, zebra, miniature horse, miniature donkey, pygmy goat, Sulcata tortoise, kangaroo, coatimundi, ferret, silver fox, parrot and Angora rabbit.
A limited number of festival T-shirts in adult and youth sizes will be sold for $10 each the day of the festival.

Tires Plus donates $4K to Gwinnett Tech
LAWRENCEVILLE -- Tires Plus Total Car Care has donated $4,000 to Gwinnett Technical College for the purchase of tools for the college's Automotive Technology program.
Mike Millares, recruiting development and retention manager, and Chris Tavares, Atlanta district manager, both for Tires Plus, were on campus recently to meet with automotive students about career opportunities and to present the donation to administrators.
"Our strong partnerships with progressive businesses like Tires Plus enables us to provide our students the latest, most-advanced 'tools of the trade' as well as exposure to real-world workplace environments and career paths," said Mary Beth Byerly, executive director for institutional advancement at Gwinnett Tech.
Tires Plus Total Car Care has more than 5,000 employees in 500 stores across 23 states, including more than 10 locations in Gwinnett County.
