Editor's note: The original story incorrectly identified Meadowcreek High School student Ryan Calhoun, 17, as being involved in the Wednesday fight in which a teacher was struck. Calhoun was arrested Wednesday for his alleged role in another fight at the school involving a single student, officials said.

NORCROSS -- A Meadowcreek High School teacher was physically assaulted
during a brawl in a school hallway this week that resulted in criminal charges against four students, authorities said.
The fracas happened Wednesday afternoon in the school s Freshman Academy.
School police believe the fight was gang-related, according to arrest warrants.
A female teacher who tried to intervene was struck during the fight. She was not seriously injured, according to a report by school police.
All four students were arrested and charged with affray, or public fighting, and disruption of a public school. The student who allegedly struck the teacher faces additional charges of simple battery, the report says.
Gwinnett County Public Schools spokesman Jorge Quintana said all four students are also facing disciplinary actions.
Police transported one student -- Demarcus Dickerson, 17, of Norcross -- to
the Gwinnett County Jail. Another student, age 16, and two 15-year-old juveniles were released to their parents, Quintana said.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Quintana was unsure which gang or gangs the students may be affiliated with, he said late Thursday.
