DULUTH -- Gwinnett Medical Center -- Duluth recently celebrated its third year of serving the community.
Officials said the hospital has seen steady growth since opening on Oct. 18, 2006.
In 2009, several new programs were introduced, including the Center for Sleep Disorders, the Interventional Radiology Suite and the daVinci Robotic Surgical System.
Renovations and expansions include the Center for Women's Diagnostic Imaging, a Glancy Campus renovation and the Education Center and Community Education Center.
The hospital, along with the Lawrenceville campus, also earned several awards and accreditations, which hospital President Lea J. Bay said are significant.
"It's important to celebrate our accomplishments and to recognize the efforts of our associates and physicians," Bay said. "Without a dedicated team, we wouldn't be able to achieve all that we have this past year. We'll continue to strive to acquire new technology and provide programs that meet the needs of the growing communities that we are privileged to serve."
Before GMC--D opened, Joan Glancy Memorial Hospital served the city and its surrounding communities for more than 60 years.
