LAWRENCEVILLE -- A driver was cited in a non-fatal crash Saturday involving a motorcyclist at a Lawrenceville intersection known to police as a dangerous one.
The collision happened about 12:50 p.m. on Hurricane Shoals Road, just north of Ga. Highway 20.
Police said the driver of a 1990 Toyota Corolla turned left from Maltbie Street onto Hurricane Shoals Road in the path of oncoming motorcyclist Brandon Moncayo, 21, of Lawrenceville.
Moncayo, who was riding a 2004 Buell, struck the Toyota. He was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with injuries that weren't life-threatening, said Lawrenceville police spokesman Capt. Greg Vaughn.
Responding police cited the car's driver, Mares Dulcio, 47, of Lawrenceville, for failure to yield right-of-way while turning left, Vaughn said. He was not arrested.
Drivers turning left from Maltbie Street at the intersection must negotiate several lanes of traffic, hilly conditions and cars entering the roadway from several directions. Vaughn said he personally tries to avoid the intersection because of those hazards.
