GMC, CBS partner to host breast cancer awareness event

DULUTH -- On Monday, Gwinnett Medical Center and CBS will host "Fight Like a Girl," a breast cancer awareness event.

The Care-a-Van, GMC's all-digital Mobile Mammography Unit, will be at the valet turnabout by the amphitheater from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Breast health educators will be on site from noon until 4 p.m. to answer breast health questions.

Stephany Fisher of CBS Atlanta will meet and greet attendees from noon until 2 p.m.

The first 50 women who arrive will receive a free T-shirt.

"When it comes to breast health awareness, Gwinnett Medical Center not only reaches out to the community by providing excellent care and state-of-the-art technology, but has partnered with CBS to reach more women in the community," said Cindy Snyder, manager of oncology services and certified breast care nurse at GMC. "Through this partnership, GMC and CBS can provide information and education to thousands of women on all aspects of breast health including breast awareness through self-exams and the importance of regular screening with mammograms."
