Library patrons to enter digital age

SUWANEE -- The Gwinnett County Public Library invites readers to experience digital downloading.

The Digital Bookmobile -- a 74-foot, high-tech tractor-trailer -- will arrive at the Suwanee library branch Friday, where Gwinnett residents can experience the technology of downloading audiobooks, e-Books, music and videos online.

Downloading is the transmission of files from one computer system, in this case the library's, to another, the computers with which the Bookmobile is equipped or computers library patrons access at home or at their local branches.

Readers can try out the digital services offered by the library through interactive demonstrations and learning stations.

Library card holders can check out and download digital titles any time, anywhere by visiting www.gwinnettpl.org. The library boasts a growing collection of best-selling, new release and classic titles that, once downloaded, can be read on a computer screen or on mobile devices. Many of the available audiobooks can be burned onto CDs.

After a 21-day lending period, downloads will expire and be automatically returned to the digital collection, ensuring items are never late or lost.
