Westbrook to sign with Georgia

Brookwood senior Julia Westbrook earned a scholarship to play for the University of Georgia's softball team, and there will be a signing party for her at the school Tuesday.

The daughter of Ron and Jacque Westbrook, she set school records for home runs in a season and career this year. She also leaves as the all-time leader in RBIs and games played for the Broncos.

Westbrook was named the Gwinnett Diamond Club's county player of the year after earning defensive player of the year honors as a junior.

GAC's Adams commits to Kennesaw State golf

Greater Atlanta Christian senior Lindsay Adams has accepted a scholarship offer to play college golf for Kennesaw State. Adams won the Class AA individual state championship as a junior.

GPC honors Duluth's Green

Georgia Perimeter College's baseball team has honored some of its past greats, including Duluth grad Nick Green, with plaques at the Jaguars' new baseball facility in Covington.

Green, a major league veteran who played last season with the Boston Red Sox, played with the school when it was called DeKalb College. Others honored by the school were Glen Sutko, Milt Hill and Herm Winningham.

Prep Rally features GAC's top player

Gwinnett Prep Rally, a Gwinnett County high school sports TV program, airs football highlights from South Gwinnett-Brookwood, Peachtree Ridge-Norcross, Mill Creek-Northview and Buford-Westminster on this week's show.

Featured athletes include Peachtree Ridge's Chris Sawdey, Mill Creek's Brandon Hayman and South Gwinnett's Aaron Wimberly. The Gwinnett Greats feature looks back at the Greater Atlanta Christian football history.

Gwinnett Prep Rally, hosted by Daily Post editor Todd Cline and sports editor Will Hammock, airs Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV and each Wednesday-Friday at 7:30 a.m., 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on GCPS-TV.
