LILBURN -- Police arrested a Lilburn couple this week for allegedly running a prescription drug fraud scheme lasting nearly two months.
Robert Humbert, 26, and girlfriend Stephanie Amber Martin, 27, face multiple counts of obtaining dangerous drugs by fraud. Both remain at the Gwinnett County Jail after Lilburn police arrested them Tuesday.
Authorities placed a hold on Humbert for the Canton Police Department, while Martin is being held on $16,900 bond.
The couple's drugs of choice were prescription medications Lortab and Xanax, according to arrest warrants.
Between Aug. 10 and early October, they reportedly targeted a physician's office in the 4100 block of U.S. Highway 29 in Lilburn, phoning in fraudulent prescriptions for one another without the knowledge of physicians.
They later retrieved the medications from a Kroger pharmacy, according to warrants.
Lortab is a pain reliever containing the narcotic hydrocodone. Xanax is used to treat anxiety and depression.
Lilburn police could not be reached to provide further information on Wednesday.
