LAWRENCEVILLE - Instead of chowing down on all their Halloween candy this year, kids might consider exchanging some for cash.
Local dentists are paying as much as $1 per pound for trick-or-treat loot.
"Ditch the candy, that's what we're saying," said Dr. Jennifer Bisig with Magnolia Dentistry in Sugar Hill. "Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost."
The candy collected by Magnolia Dentistry from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at its office at 1400 Buford Highway in Sugar Hill will be sent to troops overseas.
"Kids can still have all of the fun of trick-or-treating," Bisig said, "and now their piggy banks will benefit as well."
Call your dentist to see if he or she exchanging cash for candy this Halloween.
