Out in the crowd: Daily Post sponsors Memorial Day concert

Gwinnett residents can celebrate Memorial Day all weekend with events scheduled today, Saturday and Monday.

Town Center Park in Suwanee will be filled with the music of the Gwinnett Community Band and the Sugar Hill LDS Choir this evening for the annual event sponsored by the Daily Post and the city of Suwanee that honors military servicemen and women.

Those who attend are invited to bring a picnic, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the sights and sounds, as well as canned goods, which will be donated to local food banks.

The Command Exhibition Parachute Team from Fort Benning, the Silver Wings, are set to make an appearance, weather permitting.

"This is the fifth year we've held this Memorial Day weekend concert and we think it's a great patriotic start to a patriotic weekend," said J.K. Murphy, publisher for the Daily Post. "The music will have a God-bless-America theme and will honor all those who have served in the U.S. armed forces."
