DULUTH - Gwinnett Medical Center's Duluth campus is now the home to the hospital's newest breast diagnostic center.
The Center for Women's Diagnostic Imaging - located in the Outpatient Center - will offer the "next level of care," officials said, should a physician want to take a closer look after a screening mammography. Services including biopsies, breast ultrasounds and mammography will be available. "We are pleased to now offer the same cutting-edge technology for non-surgical biopsy as our flagship campus in Lawrenceville," said Dr. Cynthia Robinson, GMC diagnostic radiologist. "Women who need breast biopsies will now have two locations to choose from. More available appointment slots will also mean less waiting time for the patient." Originally, the diagnostic center was co-located with the Center for Screening Mammography. Officials said the number of patients in Duluth needing diagnostic services continued to grow, making a separate center necessary. Hospital spokeswoman Andrea Wehrmann said walking into the new, state-of-the-art center will feel like walking into a spa. "Soft, warm robes, soothing music, comfortable furniture and refreshments all contribute to a relaxing environment," she said. "And the primary benefit of GMC's all-digital technology means that diagnostic studies will be completed quickly, giving physicians clear results and patients quicker answers."
