LAWRENCEVILLE - Luck has dried up for a gas-station bandit with a penchant for Georgia Lottery tickets and beer, police said Wednesday.
Norcross resident Ronald Aguinada-Escobar, 25, is suspected in a string of robberies across southern Gwinnett County over eight days in March. In each heist, police say, Aguinada-Escobar held employees at bay with a semi-automatic handgun, then swiped cash, Lotto tickets and beer before fleeing the scene. He's charged with three counts of armed robbery. Each business is located on a busy thoroughfare and was hit between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. Investigators relied on surveillance video and testimony of the suspect's pals to link him to each crime, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli. Aguinada-Escobar is charged with perpetrating hold-ups at the following times and locations: · 10 p.m. March 15, Chevron, 2948 Five Forks Trickum Road, Lawrenceville; · 10 p.m. March 17, Chevron Quick Stop at 1850 U.S. Highway 29, Lawrenceville; and · 1 a.m. March 23, Sam's Mart Shell at 5260 U.S. Highway 78, Stone Mountain. Aguinada-Escobar remains at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond. He is not suspected in any robberies except those he has been charged with, Schiralli said.More like this story
