LAWRENCEVILLE - A schizophrenic man who wandered away from his Lawrenceville home without his medication Saturday morning has not been located, police said Monday morning.
Police believe Wesley T. McMurry, 48, walked from his home in the 200 block of Lester Road sometime before 8 a.m. without the pills he takes to combat his psychiatric disorder. McMurry is described as a white man with brown hair and brown eyes, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing gray sneakers and a knit hat, carrying a Sony music player and a book or Bible, police said. McMurry's mother called police Saturday afternoon to report his disappearance. "She stated that her son has left home before, but has always returned," said Gwinnett police Cpl. Illana Spellman. "He doesn't have any friends, and other family members have not heard (from) or seen him." Police combed the area near McMurry's residence but haven't located him. His information has been forwarded to state and national crime databases, Spellman said. "There is no evidence of foul play," she added. Police urge anyone who encounters a man fitting McMurry's description to call 911 immediately.More like this story
