PERRY - Apalachee powered its way to the Class AAAA state weight lifting championship by the Georgia Coaches Association last Saturday in Perry. It's the third title in four years for the Wildcats.
Defending Class AAAAA champion Peachtree Ridge took second with 28 points behind Valdosta, which had 60 points.
Apalachee got second place finishes from Alex Camp (141-150-pound weight class) and Jon Lee (161-170). Chris Parr (226-245) took third and James Vang (140 and under) and Alfie Willie (171-180) took fourth.
Peachtree Ridge's Brandon King won the 141-150 division. South Gwinnett's Shaun Ray Peart was fourth.
The Comets Darius Bryant was sixth in the 140-pound and below division.
The Lions' Akil Piggott took fourth in the 161-170 division, Vincent Brown was second in the 181-190 division and Tyler Botts was third in the 206-225 division. Mill Creek's Brandon Smith's won the 191-205 division and Ramael Wilson was fifth in the 206-225 class.
Grayson's Jacob Mwinami was fourth in the 246 and up division.
