Truck, home scorched
LAWRENCEVILLE - A Sunday afternoon fire in the 3500 block of Vinyard Way in Lawrenceville claimed a pickup truck and damaged a home, officials said. A woman called 911 to report smoke in her home at 1:25 p.m. The blaze caused heavy damage to an attic above the garage and destroyed a pickup truck within, Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge said. Firefighters controlled the blaze 23 minutes after arrival, he said. No injuries were reported. Fire investigators believe the fire originated near a hot-water heater in the garage area. It appears accidental, Rutledge said. The woman, displaced by burn and smoke damage, told authorities she was going to stay with family.
