Mr. William E. “Bill” Bailey, Sr., age 87, of Buford, GA passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2009. He was predeceased by parents, James Richard and Bertha Brown Bailey. He is survived by: wife of 67 years, Kathryn B. Bailey, Buford, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kay B. and Russell Ludwig, Buford, GA; son and daughter-in-law, William Edward “Ed” Bailey, Jr. and wife, Ann, Plano TX; five grandchildren, Julie and Adam Page, Russell D. and April Brown, Graham and Karen Brown, William “Edward” Bailey, III and wife, Erin, and Kristen Amanda Bailey; nine great grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Page, Katyn Bailey Page, Christian Walker Page, Emily Grace Page, Hannah Lee Brown, Joshua David Brown, Jordan Andrew Bailey, Taylor Reade Bailey, and Peyton Edward Bailey; and nephew, Robert A. Suk, Cumming, GA. Mr. Bailey was born August 6, 1921 in Augusta, GA. He attended Richmond Academy and Augusta Junior College. He was a 1962 graduate of Georgia State University with a B.A. Degree in History. He attended Emory University and was a graduate of West Georgia College where he received his Master's Degree in History. He was employed with Investigation Department of F.B.I. Headquarters in Washington, D.C. during World War II and later became an Investigator of Insurance Claims. He taught high school history for eleven years in DeKalb County, GA. He was a member of Atlanta S.A.R. Chapter. He was a former member and former secretary of Avondale Kiwanis Club. He was a member of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula, GA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Dr. David Davis officiating. Interment and graveside service will follow in Westover Cemetery in Augusta, GA at 3:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church Organ Fund in memory of William “Bill” Bailey, Sr. Arrangements by: Junior E.
