SUWANEE - Suwanee Day 2009 organizers are looking for residents with a little creativity, and are currently accepting designs for the festival's logo.
The winner will receive $500 while all logo entries, with the artists' permission, will be displayed for sale at the festival information booth. Artists will determine the price and receive proceeds, city spokeswoman Lynn DeWilde said.
Designs may be created digitally or can be paintings, drawings or photographs, DeWilde said, but they must be original. When designing logos, artists should also keep in mind that the winning logo will be printed on T-shirts, posters and other promotional materials.
"A large number of subtle colors doesn't typically work well on a T-shirt, for example," she said.
In addition to logo entries, DeWilde said the city is accepting exhibitor applications online from artists, craftspeople and food vendors interested in being part of the festival. Application deadline is June 1.
The 26th annual event is scheduled for 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sept. 19 at Town Center Park. Organizers said about 40,000 people attended the 2008 community celebration.
