Prep Roundup: Peachtree Ridge boys win North Georgia invite

ROCKY FACE - Peachtree Ridge's boys golf team took first place in the North Georgia Invitational, edging out Harrison by four strokes in the two-day event.

Seth Reeves carded a 67 while Jack Walsh finished with 71 in the opening round at Barnsley Gardens as the Lions posted a team score of 286.

The second round was held at The Farm and Reeves led the Lions with a 69. Ben Lee also had a good day with a round of 76 as the team posted a score of 307 for a tournament total of 593.

GIRLS SOCCER

Parkview 5, Dacula 0

LILBURN - Kristina Pascutti scored two goals on Friday and the Parkview defense held Dacula to just one shot on goal as the Panthers (10-0, 4-0) blanked the Falcons 5-0.

Kansas Bayly, Megan Geiger and Kim Spence each had a goal for Parkview while Marjorie Hammond and Chelsea Ramsey combined for the save and shutout at keeper.

Shiloh 3, Meadowcreek 0

NORCROSS - Ariana Walsh scored two goals and keeper Kayla Jones saved 19 shots Friday night to help Shiloh to a 3-0 shutout over Meadowcreek.

Esmerelda Mujkanovic added the third goal while Sherry Mujkanovic and Kelsey Griswold each had assists for Shiloh (2-7-1, 2-4).

Peachtree Ridge 1, Chattahoochee 0

SUWANEE - Peachtree Ridge (11-1, 5-0) picked up a goal in the second half and made it stand as the Lions held off Chattahoochee 1-0 on Friday.

The Lions' goal came from Alanna Dineen off an assist from Christine Watts while keeper McCall Gardner saved two.

North 2, Collins Hill 0

SUWANEE - North Gwinnett blanked Collins Hill 2-0 on Friday in Region 7-AAAAA action.

Kelly Penston scored the first goal off an assist from Jessica Sapp for North (9-1, 5-0) while Danielle Au headed in a corner kick from Halie Watts for the second goal.

Norcross 3, Duluth 1

DULUTH - Norcross won its first Region 7-AAAAA game of the year on Friday with a 3-1 decision over Duluth.

Jami Lupuloff scored two goals from two assists by Maddi Clark while the third goal for Norcross (5-7, 1-3) came off a Lupuloff assist to Clark. Gwen Davis provided the lone goal for Duluth.

GAC 10, Berkmar 0

NORCROSS - Samantha Abrahart netted four goals as Greater Atlanta Christian blanked Berkmar 10-0 on Friday night.

Kelsey Pelletier and Anna Douglas added two goals each for GAC (11-2) while Madeline Barker and Chelsea Gandy-Kromer each scored one.

Hebron 8, Lakeview 1

GAINESVILLE - Alexa Allen scored four goals and assisted two more on Friday night in leading Hebron to an 8-1 win over Lakeview Academy.

Arely Sanchez added two goals while Maddi Roof helped with two assists. Elise Akin, Tayler Pitts and Amberly Sanchez each scored a goal for Hebron (4-2-1) while Hannah Wilbanks saved 12 shots at keeper.

BOYS SOCCER

Peachtree Ridge 1, Chattahoochee 0 SO

SUWANEE - Saudino Garanovic knocked in the clinching goal as Peachtree Ridge took a 4-2 advantage in penalty kicks to beat Chattahoochee 1-0 on Friday.

Keeper Matt Kupstas finished with eight saves as the Lions improved to 9-3 overall and 2-3 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Meadowcreek 9, Shiloh 0

NORCROSS - Meadowcreek evened its record at 4-4 with a 9-0 shutout of Shiloh on Friday.

Bobby Rodriguez led the attack with three goals while Adrian Areola scored two. Andrew Solache also had two goals while Enrique Penzola had two saves at keeper.

Duluth 2, Norcross 1

DULUTH - Duluth improved to 5-4-1 on Friday by edging Norcross 2-1.

Agustin Abreu and Kevin Rodriguez each scored one goal for the Wildcats.

Northview 3, Mill Creek 1

HOSCHTON - Northview defeated Mill Creek 3-1 on Friday in Region 7-AAAAA action.

Mill Creek (4-9, 2-3) avoided the shutout with a goal by Chris Eaton off an assist from Matt Muntean.

Collins Hill 3, North 1

SUWANEE - Zak Wallingford scored two goals and Peter Kurowski added one more as Collins Hill knocked off North Gwinnett 3-1 on Friday night.

Malcolm Miller and Juan Giraldo each had an assist for the Eagles (8-3, 4-1) while keeper Andrew Wallingford saved three shots.

Parkview 3, Dacula 2

LILBURN - Parkview topped Dacula 3-2 on Friday night in Region 8-AAAAA action.

Kofi Gyawu scored all three goals for the Panthers (7-2, 4-1) while Matt Poteete, Pete Charter and Santiago Gubitosi each had assists. Ado Junuzovic provided Dacula (5-6, 3-1) with its offense by scoring two goals.

GAC 5, Berkmar 0

NORCROSS - Greater Atlanta Christian celebrated its senior night with a 5-0 shutout over Berkmar on Friday.

Chris Thomas scored three goals for GAC (10-2) while Aldyn Royes added two more. Thomas and Royes also each had assists while Eric Fletcher delivered two assists.

Providence 6, St. Francis 2

LILBURN - Will Lowndes scored a pair of goals on Friday as Providence cruised to a 6-2 win over St. Francis.

Providence (7-2, 5-0) also picked single goals from Brent Hansen, Jonny Mercado, Evan Pruitt and Andrew Murray.

BASEBALL

Mill Creek 5, Parkview 2

LILBURN - Mill Creek defeated Parkview 5-2 on Friday in a non-region game.

Joey Webb led the Hawks (5-2), going 3-for-4 with three RBIs with a two-run homer while Jerad Curry was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Greg Brody, Eric Alonzo and Buck Fleming also had two hits each while Matthew Grimes (2-1) earned the win, pitching seven innings with seven strikeouts, two walks and two unearned runs.

Brandon Kregel was 2-for-3 for Parkview with a single, double and two RBIs while Matt Foster and Brandon Jacobs each went 1-for-3.

Jesse Foster started for the Panthers (3-6) and allowed seven hits and three runs over five innings with two strikeouts in the loss. Austin Wheeler and Max Karon each allowed one run in one inning of work in relief for Parkview.

Central 8, GAC 6

LAWRENCEVILLE - Matt Ricciardi finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs on Friday as Central Gwinnett outlasted Greater Atlanta Christian 8-6.

Ryan Bruce also went 2-for-3 for Central (4-4) while Phillip Bates picked up the win on the mound.

South Forsyth 4, South Gwinnett 1

CUMMING - South Gwinnett's record evened at 4-4 on Friday with a 4-1 loss to South Forsyth.

Kevin Caldwell (1-2) took the loss for the Comets, lasting six innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits for four strikeouts.

Kenny Sanderson went 2-for-4 with a run for the Comets while Brett Teschner was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Kyle Maloney and Caldwell each finished with two hits while Nick Blount was 1-for-3.

Columbus 4, Brookwood 2

SNELLVILLE - Brookwood starter Cameron Hall pitched six solid innings on Friday but the Broncos came up on the short end of a 4-2 score to Columbus.

Hall (1-2) went six innings, allowing four earned runs with six strikeouts and one walk. Wade Brogdon and Jake Moore each had two hits for Brookwood (4-4) while Ronnie Freeman, Trey Martin, Michael Brown and Chad Ikerd each went 1-for-3.

Stephens Co. 13, Buford 12

BUFORD - Stephens County built an 11-1 lead after three innings and held on as the Indians thwarted Buford 13-12 on Friday night.

Josh Rudnik had two hits and three RBIs for Buford (5-5) while Landon Anderson drove in one run on three hits. Adam Schrader also finished with three hits while Cody Getz had two for the Wolves.

Westminster 8, Providence 7

ATLANTA - Westminster pushed a run across in the bottom of the seventh to edge Providence 8-7 on Friday night.

Kevin Dodson went 21/3 innings in relief in taking the loss, allowing the one run on two hits with five strikeouts. Dodson also had a strong day a the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs while Burke Reynolds finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Decatur 19, Meadowcreek 9

DECATUR - Meadowcreek fell to 5-5 on Friday with a 19-9 loss to Decatur.

Cory Huck led Meadowcreek, going 1-for-2 with a three-run homer. Ethan Parris added a hit with two RBIs while Pablo Mercado finished 1-for-3.

Hebron 9, Prince Ave. 2

DACULA - Jamie Holt pitched four innings and struck out two on Friday night in leading Hebron to a 9-2 win over Prince Avenue.

Jordy Penrod led the offense for Hebron (9-1, 2-1) by going 3-for-4 while Jordan Hillyer finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

GIRLS TENNIS

Hebron 4, Prince Ave. 1

DACULA - Hebron took both doubles matches and two singles matches on Friday to beat Prince Avenue 4-1.

The No. 1 doubles winner was Jorie Weirather and Mini Schulte while Virginia Goss and Allie Klaubert won at No. 2 doubles. Sarah Hedrick added a win at No. 1 singles while the No. 3 singles match went to Anneliese Vorpahl.

BOYS TENNIS

Athens Christian 4, Apalachee 1

BETHLEHEM - Athens Christian topped Apalachee 4-1 on Friday at River Walk YMCA.

Winning at No. 2 doubles for Apalachee (2-8) was Aaron Brown and Pheng Vue.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Northview 19, Peachtree Ridge 6

DULUTH - Jennifer Hennelly scored five goals for Peachtree Ridge but Northview came out on top 19-6 over the Lions on Friday.

Rachel Harper added the other goal for Peachtree Ridge (3-4-1) while Erin Palanza had 15 saves at keeper.

GIRLS TRACK

Central tops Dacula

LAWRENCEVILLE - Irrion Conaler took first place in three events on Thursday in leading Central Gwinnett to an 85-41 win over Dacula.

Conaler won the 100 hurdles, the 300 hurdles and the high jump while also running on the winning 1,600 relay team. Lauren Brown also had two wins for Central, taking first in the 100 run and the and the long jump.

Dacula won three events, getting wins from Marren Schwartz in the shot put, Kellie Keeling in the 1,600 run and Philicia Galavia in the 3,200 run.

BOYS TRACK

Dacula wins three-way meet with Central and Grayson

LAWRENCEVILLE - Dacula won seven events Thursday as the Falcons beat both Central Gwinnett and Grayson.

Jake Brown won both the 110 and 300 hurdles while Shaquille Lee won the high jump and triple jump as the Falcons tallied 68 points.

Central, which was second with 55 points, was led by three wins from Michael Sims in the long jump, 100 run and 200 run.

Third place went to Grayson with 39 points. The Rams won the pole vault (Josh Kimble), shot put (Nabil Mubarte) and both the 800 and 1,600 relays.
