Gwinnett Daily Post
CINCINNATI - A day after beating Cincinnati, the Gwinnett Gladiators lost to the Cyclones by a similar score.
The Gladiators lost 3-1 in Cincinnati on Thursday, getting the lone goal from Brandon Kaleniecki. Joe Fallon was in goal for the second straight night but gave up two more goals than he did in Wednesday's win. Fallon finished with 27 saves as Gwinnett now makes its way to Dayton for a pair of games. The Gladiators (28-29-6) remain in the ECHL South's fourth and final playoff spot despite the loss to Cincinnati, which leads the North Division. Gwinnett had just three shots on goal in the first period and fell behind 1-0. Dustin Sproat beat Fallon as he crashed the net and rolled the puck past the netminder at 8:25. Kaleniecki tied the game with his first goal since December after a long injury recovery. Right off a faceoff deep in the Cincinnati zone, Kaleniecki threw the puck to the net from along the goal line and it eluded Cyclones netminder Loic Lacasse at 6:20 of the second period. But a pair of goals 71 seconds apart early in the third by the Cyclones doomed the Gladiators, who were 0-for-7 on the power play.
