Fire damages duplex

NORCROSS - Firefighters doused a bathroom fire that damaged a Norcross duplex in the 5100 block of Williams Road early Friday.

A resident came home to find the residence smoking and called 911 at 12:39 a.m. Fire crews contained damage to the bathroom though smoke wafted throughout the unit.

Firefighters evaluated the family's cat at the scene for exposure to smoke.

"The cat is doing fine and should be OK," said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined, Rutledge said.
