A selection of local eateries recently featured in the Gwinnett Daily Post:
· Rexall Grill
Rexall Grill serves breakfast and lunch items, from biscuits and pancakes to burgers and hot dogs. The meatloaf is the most popular lunch item, selling out most days. The daily lunch special of one meat and two vegetables and bread is also a popular choice, with meats ranging from baked ham to country fried steak and changing daily. Southern-style sweet tea complements the food, while homemade desserts are available to cap off meals.

· Lazeez Tava Fry
Tava Fry offers traditional Indian food, from stir fry to curry dishes. Co-owner Nisar Momin said the most popular menu items are the goat and lamb chops fry - marinated goat or lamb chops in a spicy sauce with stir fried tomato, onions and chili. The masala khichdi, basmati rice with lentils stir fried in a spicy sauce, is also frequently ordered. All meats served at Lazeez Tava Fry are prepared according to halal food standards, which means they are permissible to eat for those who follow Islamic religious traditions.

· Grayson Cafe
What was intended to be a barbecue restaurant has become more of a stop for country cooking, although barbecue and Brunswick stew are still on Grayson Cafe's menu. The most popular lunch menu item - and the cafe's signature item - is the Grayson dog, an oversized all beef hot dog on a hoagie. The owners plan to begin offering daily specials of meatloaf, salmon patties, fried chicken, country fried steak and more.

Nine different hot dogs are on the menu at Dacula Dogs, with the Chicago-style hot dog topping the list. The Texas barbecue dog is one of the most interesting options: a hot dog smothered in barbecue sauce and topped with cheddar cheese. Burgers, chicken sandwiches and specialty sandwiches round off Dacula Dogs' menu, and the restaurant offers baskets with all its dogs and sandwich items, which include fries and a choice of cole slaw or baked beans.

Lunch options include salads, soups, sandwiches, fried items and selections off the grill. Cathy's chicken salad sandwich is ordered often, along with Lynn's roasted pimento cheese sandwich, made with toasted pecans and a hint of jalapenos and served with a side of strawberry preserves.
