LILBURN - A carjacked SUV taken from a woman who was shot this week has turned up in a Lilburn neighborhood, while the shooter remains at large, police said.
A 911 caller reported the stolen 2007 Ford Escape was abandoned on Rebecca Street near Lilburn about 6 p.m. Thursday. Investigators are processing the vehicle for evidence. The car's owner, a woman police haven't identified, was fueling the vehicle at a QuikTrip Station on U.S. Highway 29 in Lawrenceville late Wednesday night when she was attacked. She was shot following a brief struggle, police said. The victim remains in stable condition at an area hospital after undergoing surgery Thursday, said Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman. Police have not released a description of the suspect, who had not been located Friday. Police ask anyone with information to call 770-513-5300.More like this story
