STONE MOUNTAIN - Police have lodged murder charges against a Stone Mountain man wounded in a gunfight at his home Saturday night, an official said Monday.
Police say Elliot Ford, 25, fatally shot one of four men his ex-girlfriend brought to his Rockwood Way home in an attempt to retrieve her belongings amidst the couple's split. Responding police found Ford laying in a neighbor's yard, shot multiple times. The man he allegedly shot was dead in Ford's driveway, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli. Police have yet to identify the deceased victim. Schiralli said Ford was treated and released to jail from Gwinnett Medical Center within hours of the shooting, though he wouldn't specify where Ford was physically shot. Charged with a single count of murder, Ford remains without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail. The encounter Saturday wasn't the first that day between Ford and his ex-girlfriend, Valencia Sims, 28. Police had escorted Sims earlier Saturday to Ford's home to pick up her children. Schiralli said an officer advised Sims to obtain a temporary protective order against Ford and not to return to the residence if trouble ensued. "She returned back to (Ford's) residence a couple of hours later with the four males," Schiralli said. Sims and her three surviving counterparts were spotted by police fleeing the scene and detained for questioning. They have not been charged. Exactly what led Ford to trade bullets with the deceased man is under investigation, Schiralli said.More like this story
