Railway museum to offer rides

DULUTH - All aboard.

The Southeastern Railway Museum will offer train rides and more today as part of its annual locomotive celebration.

The event will be a commemoration of old and new engines and will include an exhibit of Chattahoochee Valley No. 21.

In addition to rides, the museum has plans for locomotive tattoos, a kids locomotive craft, a scavenger hunt, tours and food and drinks.

The event began Saturday and will continue today from noon to 5 p.m.

The railway museum, located at 3595 Buford Highway in Duluth, has more than 80 pieces of retired railway rolling stock, including vintage steam and diesel locomotives, passenger coaches and private business and freight cars, a railway post office car and a World War II army troop kitchen. The historical elements include trolleys and busses from the early 1900s and is home to MARTA's historic bus fleet.
