Many local dancers to attend intensives

Dozens of young dancers from Gwinnett head out for weeks of instruction at some of the nation's best dance companies and universities. Just being accepted to these intensives is an honor. Many audition and few are chosen. To receive a scholarship is an even greater honor.

Without further ado, here is the "Summer Intensive 2009" list of local dancers who are either attending intensives or who have been awarded acceptance and scholarships, listed by company.

Gwinnett Ballet Theatre

· Abigrace Diprima, 13, full scholarship to North Carolina Dance Theatre;

· Nancy Casciano, 14, scholarship to School of American Ballet, NYC;

· Nicole Ranieri, 18, full scholarships to Orlando Ballet and to Pittsburgh Ballet;

· Maggie Ellington, 16, Boston Ballet;

· Jessica Kaczor, 16, Glenda Brown Choreography Project;

· Chanelle Pennington, 14, Richmond Ballet;

· Anna Motte, 13, Kirov Academy;

· Lauren Pappafotis, 13, Joffrey Midwest;

· Alison Bell, 13, Joffrey Midwest;

· Jordan Silas, 12, Joffrey South in Milledgeville;

· Brittany Bodden, Joffrey South in Milledgeville;

· Kristin Clark, 12, was accepted at Boston Ballet, Joffrey Midwest and North Carolina Dance Theatre;

· McKenzie Messick, 11, was accepted at Boston, North Carolina, and Kirov Academy; and

· Ariel Finks, 11, and her sister, Sidney, will be studying at Atlanta Ballet's summer intensive.

· Kristen Archer, 17, to Alvin Ailey in New York City;

· Natalie Keeling, 17, to Ballet Magnificat in Jackson, Miss;

· Bailey Timmerman, 15, to the Atlanta Ballet Advanced Summer Program;

· Jennifer Mullins, 17, Kennesaw State University Summer Intensive Clinic;

· Sara McKenna, 18, Atlanta Ballet Summer Program; and

· Jada Bourgeois, 8, to Soulful Arts Dance Academy in Tampa, Fla.

Susan Chambers Dance Company

· Ryan Corbett, 16, Joffrey Ballet and Julliard, N.Y.;

· Kelsey Wildman, 16, North Carolina School for the Arts on a full scholarship;

· Ashley Pettit, 14, Joffrey Ballet and Broadway Theatre Workshop in Sante Fe, N.M.;

· Kiley Gipson, 16, will attend the Broadway Theatre Project in Florida;

· Emma Grace Cline, 13, was accepted at Tap Kids in New York City and will attend the New York City Dance Alliance and Steps;

· Madison Morton, 14, New York City Dance Alliance and Step;

· Sarah Snow, 15, New York City Dance Alliance and Steps;

· Kelsey Burrell, 15, New York City Dance Alliance and Steps; and

· Kaila Fields, 16, New York City Dance Alliance and Steps.

Suwanee Academy of the Arts

· Christina Leamon, scholarship to Cecchetti Council of America's International Summer School held at Hope College in Holland, Mich.
