NORCROSS - For a Snellville man arrested Monday, driving under suspension and with a stolen license plate are the least of his worries.
That's because 34-year-old William H. Brown, a felon, was in possession of a small arsenal when he was pulled over in Norcross, police said. According to reports, Investigator James Redfern of the Gwinnett Sheriff's Department's Fugitive Unit was patrolling Indian Trail-Lilburn Road when his License Plate Recognition System alerted him that Brown, who had just passed him, was driving a vehicle bearing a stolen tag. Redfern followed Brown to a laundromat near Indian Trail and Burns roads, where Brown stopped with his child. After being arrested for the stolen plates, police said, Brown said he had just come from shooting and that there "a lot of weapons" in the car. During his search, Redfern recovered nine firearms and nearly 1,300 rounds of ammunition. In addition to two shotguns and a .22-caliber long rifle, six handguns - including a .40 caliber, a 9 mm, a .38 caliber and a .357 - were seized. Brown is being held in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.More like this story
