Charene Mathews Smith, age 63 of Duluth, died June 19, 2009. Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Wednesday June 24, 2009 at Duluth First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Tommy Green and Rev. C. Kay Fuino officiating. She will lie in state at 3:00 PM. Interment Peachtree Memorial Park, Norcross. Mrs. Smith was born in St. Petersburg, FL was a homemaker and a member of Duluth First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Phillips High School in Birmingham, AL, attended the University of Alabama and graduated from the University of Texas at Houston. She is survived by her husband Gary Smith of Duluth, daughter Lara Smith of Decatur, son and daughter-in-law Brad and Tara Smith of Acworth, grandchildren Cassidy, Cameron, Callie, Cailyn and Caleb, mother Irene Mathews Love of Gardendale, AL, sister Susan Dollar of Morris, AL and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory Duluth Chapel 770-476-2535.
