ZONING CASES - ON THE AGENDA: Here's a look at the actions taken on rezonings and other requests made of the Gwinnett County Planning Commission at its June 16 meeting.

1. Tabled until Aug. 18: Rezone 3.84 acres from neighborhood business district and multi-family residence district to a general-business district and grant a special-use permit to allow for a 33,600-square-foot church and commercial/ retail center which would have a restaurant, travel agency and barber shop along with a church library and office. Location is the 3000-3100 blocks of Cruse Road and the 800 block of Martin Heights Drive. Planning department recommended denial. RZC-09-016 and SUP-09-024

2. Approved with conditions: Change in conditions and grant a special-use permit to expand the hours of operation and facilities for a metal salvage and recycling facility located on 22.90 acres in a heavy industry zoned area. Location is the 2800 block of Amwiler Road. Planning department recommended approval with conditions on the SUP and denial on the change in conditions. CIC-09-012 and SUP-09-030

3. Approved with conditions: Applicant requests a special-use permit and a change in conditions to allow for an automobile sales and service center on a 1.88-acre piece of property in a general-business district. Location is the 5100 block of Buford Highway. Planning department recommended approval with conditions. CIC-09-015 and SUP-09-039

4. Approved with conditions: Applicant requests a special-use permit to allow for a day care facility as an accessory use to an existing church in an area zoned for single family residences. The location is at the 1400 block of Killian Hill Road. Planning department recommended approval with conditions. SUP-09-031

5. Approved with conditions: Applicant requests a special-use permit to allow for an in-home hair salon on a 0.14-acre piece of property in a single-family residence district. Location is at the 2700 block of Sedgeview Lane. Planning department recommended approval with conditions. SUP-09-034

6. Tabled until Aug. 18: Applicant requests a special-use permit to allow for a pawn shop and check cashing business within an existing retail center in a general-business district. Location is at the 3600 block of Club Drive. Planning department recommended denial. SUP-09-035

7. Approved with conditions: Applicant requests two special-use permits for two adjoining properties to allow for outdoor storage and display for Up Scaffolding company and a Turfmaster Lawn and Landscape Management company in a general-business district. Location is at the 2400 block of Lawrenceville Highway. Planning department recommended approval with conditions. SUP-09-036 and SUP-09-037

8. Tabled until July 21: Applicant requests a special-use permit to allow for a full service automotive carwash on a 1.36-acre piece of property in a general business district. Location is at the 3400 block of Centerville Highway. Planning department recommended approval with conditions. SUP-09-038

9. Tabled until July 7: Applicant requests a special-use permit to allow for a day care facility as an accessory use to an existing church in an area zoned for single family residences. The location is at the 1600 block of Old Peachtree Road. Planning department recommended approval with conditions. SUP-09-040
