Chairman will make difference on trip to Asia

In the past, I have found occasion to be critical of Chairman Charles Bannister, so I feel obligated to give credit when it is due.

The decision to accompany the Gwinnett Economic Development team on the upcoming China-Korea trip comes at a difficult time. However, I believe the chairman made the right decision to go.

Having done business in China numerous times over the decade, I understand how important perceptions are. Without the highest-ranking government official, Gwinnett's contingent would not be taken seriously. If we combine budgetary restraint with solid economic development, we will emerge from our economic difficulties.

So a tip of the cap to Bannister for making the right decision at the right time.
