DeShields also moves to Norcross
Second rising star transfers

A second highly touted rising ninth-grader has transferred to Norcross, as former Woodward Academy student Diamond DeShields enrolled at her new school this week.

DeShields joins fellow freshman Kaela Davis, who recently moved in from Greater Atlanta Christian, on the Blue Devils' roster. They are considered two of the nation's top prospects in the Class of 2013 and both are the daughters of former pro athletes - DeShields' father is former major league baseball player Delino DeShields and Davis' father is former NBA big man Antonio Davis.

Like Davis, DeShields is 6-foot-1, versatile, very athletic and can score inside and out. The two also are AAU teammates on the Georgia Ice.

"(DeShields) is very athletic and she's long, but I think her greatest attribute is her athleticism," Norcross girls coach Angie Hembree said.

Although Norcross lost Vanderbilt signee Tiffany Clarke, the county's leading rebounder, it still returns a solid core of players led by guard Briana Jordan. Jordan transferred in from GAC last year.
