LAWRENCEVILLE - A Thursday night double-shooting in a Lawrenceville neighborhood left one man dead and another injured, police said.
Shots rang out about 9:30 p.m. on Caboose Court, a neighborhood off U.S. 29 near Sugarloaf Parkway. Police arrived to find a black male - believed to be in his late teens or early 20s - dead inside a white, late-model Buick.
A second black male shot and injured at the scene, who was 17-years-old, is expected to survive, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Illana Spellman said.
Police withheld the names of both victims Friday.
The injured teen scrambled on foot to a nearby shopping center, where medical personnel later found him, Spellman said. He was transported to an unnamed hospital.
Spellman said it wasn't known if the teen was inside the Buick when he was shot. Police have no suspects.
The motive and exact circumstances of the shootings are under investigation, Spellman said.
Police wouldn't say Friday where the deceased man was located in the Buick, or if either of the victims were armed.
Police urge anyone with information about the shootings to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Spellman said anonymous tips are welcome and could earn callers up to $2,000 in reward money.
