Davis named full-time AUM hoops coach
South Gwinnett grad Dan Davis had the interim label removed from his title Monday by Auburn University at Montgomery, which named him as head women's basketball coach.
Davis stepped in last season on an interim basis when former coach Steve Crotz became athletic director, guiding AUM to a 20-9 record and a No. 25 national NAIA ranking. He was named the Southern States Athletic Conference coach of the year.
A four-year player on AUM's men's team, Davis coached boys basketball at South Gwinnett and Grayson before coaching the girls team at Providence Christian from 2002 to 2007. He also was Providence's athletic director for two years.
