Youth Roundup: Battlecats are Queen of the Hill

The 96 Georgia Battlecats, a 12U softball team, won the Queen of the Hill Grand Slam Tournament in Lagrange last month.

With the championship, the Suwanee based team, earned a berth to the ASA Nationals held this summer in Normal, Ill. The Battlecats will also play in the Hall of Fame tournament in Oklahoma City, which is played in the same stadium as the College World Series.

Team members are Chase Battle, Alyssa Dasher, Danna Downs, Amanda Berry, Holly Martin, Hannah Medlem, Courtney Condon, Taiylor Rinehart, Ansley Jones, Mason Garland and Jessie Oates.

The team is coached by Vance Medlem, Scott Jones, Guy Battle, Kelly Rinehart, Debbie Berry and Mike Dasher.

BASEBALL

Eagles win Black Rock

The Collins Hill 10U Eagles claimed the championship at the Battle at Black Rock on Memorial Day weekend, beating out a tough field of 12 North Georgia teams.

The Eagles used hot bats to outscore their opponents 64-21 during their 5-0 run in the tournament.

The Eagles' championship brings their season record to 30-9.

Team members are James Civelli, Mark Flores, Monty Horn, Austin Jett, Brett Jones, Ryan Jones, Bradley Kallgren, Porter Richards, Adam Roos, Nicholas Topoleski and Jon Wyatt. The Eagles are coached by Ted Kallgren, Tony Flores, Tom Topoleski and Jimmy Richards.

Cardinals win NGBL title

The St. Louis Cardinals Pee Wee baseball team won the North Gwinnett Baseball League tournament.

The Cardinals (9-8) defeated the Minnesota Twins 17-16 in seven innings on May 19 at George Pierce Park.

Team members are Jared Barker, Ryan Cooper, Ethan Dawidowicz, Ben Hutson, Kenneth Huffman, Andrew Lewis, Liam Miller, Steven Sanford, Joey Smith, Spencer Southard, Ian Stackpole and Harrison Ward

The team is coached by Darin Southard, Cary Cooper, Joe Dawidowicz and Kenny Huffman.

DSC U14 boys win President's Cup

Dacula Soccer Club's Select U14 Boys recently posted an undefeated spring Select league season and gained promotion to the highest level in the Select program, Classic I.

The DSC U14 boys (10-0) have been promoted every season moving, from Classic V to Classic I in just two years. They recently won the State President's Cup held in early May for the second year in a row, becoming one of two teams to ever repeat.

They will compete in the Regional President's Cup tournament in Greer, S.C. this month with the potential to advance to the National tournament held in North Carolina in July.

Team members are Erick Nunez, Stephen Kirk, Britt Hatcher, Max Wolk, Chris Popa, Sebastian Carrion, Francisco Carrasco, Omar Campos, Quentin Lavender, Bailey Pinto, Conner Buckley, Nick Sibert, Jose Tomayo, Tyler Moore, and Bryan Santana. The team is coached by Jimmy Carrion and Omar Campos.
